Making little hearts whole again!

Approximately 8 in 1,000 babies are born with congenital heart defects. Congenital heart defects are heart diseases in children present since birth. They are the leading cause of birth defect-related deaths in babies. Some congenital heart defects are not diagnosed until months or years after birth and contribute to poor outcomes, and in extreme cases, death. Once diagnosed, it is very important to let families know that timely surgeries can treat congenital heart abnormalities, irrespective of the babys weight and age.

The Jupiter Marathon Thane is an endeavour by the Paediatric Heart Clinic in Jupiter Hospital to make sure these little hearts are whole again. The Paediatric Heart Clinic started in 2013 is one of the largest tertiary care referral institutions in the region providing round-the-clock comprehensive care to children with congenital heart disease. Under the Jupiter Marathon Thane, every effort is made to provide the best medical expertise in the field at an affordable cost.

The medical team at this facility is trained in the best centers around the world and has acquired expertise in treating the most complex heart diseases even in the smallest newborn baby. Supported by the finest infrastructure and facilities, the team sees more than 5,000 outpatients and performs approximately 350-400 surgeries and 300 interventions, annually. The hospital conducts state-wide free and subsidised screening camps and early intervention programmes to diagnose and treat birth heart defects in a timely manner. Twice in a year, Jupiter Hospital conducts a paediatric Cardiac Intervention and Surgery Camp in the hospital in association with the Shivsena Medical Cell. The camp screens over 200 children from across Maharashtra on a single day. Echocardiograms and consultations are conducted free for all patients who register.
